Apple and Microsoft split is finally happening, according to the company’s latest quarterly earnings report.
The company’s quarterly financial results are coming out next Wednesday.
Apple and Microsoft had been planning to split for months, but a new round of negotiations resulted in the two companies agreeing to the split last week.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told the Wall Street Journal that the deal “has been done” and that the company is “excited to announce a new deal.”
The Microsoft-Apple split comes as the tech giants battle each other for supremacy in consumer technology, a battle that has already had significant ripple effects on the market.
Apple is expected to have a significant share of the smartphone market in 2021, according the Wall St. Journal, and it has a long history of expanding its mobile offerings to include devices like the iPhone.
Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will reportedly be available in all 50 states in November.
The iPhone 7 is expected for release in December.
