Apple is apparently going to release a new version of its iOS app in late July, with a major focus on its mobile payment system.iOS 7.0, codenamed “iPhone,” is reportedly the first update to the software since it was released in June, and is the first to offer iOS 7 support for Apple Pay.
Apple Pay, which is already available for Android phones, was first announced in December, but the company hasn’t released any details about when or where this new version will arrive.
According to The Verge, Apple has yet to confirm its plans to launch a “full” update to iOS 7.
The company’s latest iOS 7 update, released in February, introduced a new feature called “Smart Lock,” which allows users to lock their devices using Apple Pay on a regular basis, but only if they’re using the same carrier network as the phone they’re purchasing the phone from.
If Apple does launch a full iOS 7 upgrade, it’s not clear when the new version should arrive, but we do know it will be the first time the software will support Apple Pay directly.
